Vishal stood outside the small barbershop, wiping sweat, asking Samantha if this place is good. She smiled lightly and said yes, this is the same shop where she used to get her haircuts in childhood. As they entered, Balayya looked up and smiled, recognizing her immediately. “Hey Sam… after many years, How are you” he said warmly. Samantha smiled shyly and asked him how he is. Sunday night, Samantha stood in the middle of the hall with her head down. Ravi was sitting on the chair, looking angry, eyes fixed on Trisha. Trisha spoke fast and tense, telling how Samantha got low marks again even after tuition. “She is not serious at all ravi, she has been getting low grades from past few exams” Trisha said, frustration clear in her voice. The memory took Samantha back many years, one quiet afternoon during the lockdown. Trisha sat on the floor with little Samantha in her lap, gently playing with her soft hair while the baby samantha made small sounds and tried to grab her fingers.
