Pooja and Rani's Head shave story English story

A year had passed since Pooja made the bold decision to shave her head. Her hair had grown back to shoulder length, and life was going on normally. But one night, pooja’s father died in an accident. The news broke Pooja and her mother, Rani. Rani was heartbroken—she had lost her life partner and pooja was also devastated—she had lost her father. The family was drowned in grief. According to their tradition, they had to perform the last rites near the river ghats. The air was heavy with sorrow.

The barber came, and Pooja’s mother was asked who would get their head shaved as a sign of mourning. She came forward and the barber began shaving her head, leaving a small tuft at the back. Pooja watched, numb, as her mother’s hair fell to the ground. She got disturbed and voluntarily sat down, and asked the barber to shave her head too leaving a tuft behind. The sound of the razor on their skin felt strange and shivering. As they both sat there, bald and weak.

Pooja realized the shave was more than a ritual—it was a sign of accepting fate. Pooja and her mother were asked to remove their dress and wear white saree. The simple clothes were very different from the rich rituals and celebrations of their past life. As they walked back to their village, Pooja felt empty. People looked at their bald heads with sympathy, but she was lost in grief, trying to accept the new reality. Life after the loss felt different. Pooja and her mother had to find a way to live in this new world.

They continued their daily routines, but everything felt changed. Their bald heads were a reminder of their loss. Pooja and her mother would sit in silence, holding hands, finding comfort in each other’s presence. Their bald heads became a symbol of their bond. As days passed, Pooja started to accept the situation. She realized her father’s memory lived on in her, and she wanted to make him proud by living fully. What had once been a symbol of mourning, and slowly her hair began to grow and sorrow began to slow down.
